LAS VEGAS – Seguin's Deputy Chief of Police Bruce Ure was among the 515 injured in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history Sunday night.
The Seguin Police Department announced Ure was injured during the attack, but that he was safe and returning home.
Ure updated his friends and family on Facebook with a post that said he was safe.
"I caught a piece of bullet shrapnel on my hand but minor," Ure elaborated in the comments of his Facebook post. "The shooter was 22 floors directly above our room. Rounds hitting the ground all around us. I am guessing 400-500 rounds. Maybe more. Sounded like a war zone."
Authorities said the gunman, 64-year-old Stephen Craig Paddock, killed himself after opening fire on the crowd.
Police have not yet determined a motive.
