Year of the Woman: Any Woman Can

SAN ANTONIO – Since opening its door six years ago, Any Woman Can has been a place where women can go to get help.

It's a health center that offers a lot of free programs.

Executive Director Shan Wiley emphasizes the importance for women and teen girls to understand that there is no strings attached with visiting Any Woman Can.

"It really is a place where women in crisis regardless if it's a surprise pregnancy, regardless if they are facing a STI (sexually transmitted infection), or it could be a women in her 50s or 60s who is still dealing with maybe a past trauma," Wiley said.

What the organization provides is pregnancy testing, testing for sexually transmitted diseases, ultrasounds and a variety of counseling services. 

All those services are provided mostly by volunteers. Currently, there are 42 volunteer nurses, counselors and advocates.

Any Woman Can is also inviting the public to their upcoming event on Friday, Feb. 15. There will be live music, food, other entertainment and information provided about the organization. This will take place at Parkhills Baptist Church. There is a $40 entry fee and you can register at awcevents.com.
