SAN ANTONIO – A local group is spending the month of October collecting socks, shoes and underwear donations for children, individuals who are homeless and others in need.
Inner City Development collects a variety of donations, but because new socks and underwear are rarely donated, members of the group said they have a great need for them.

Volunteers with the West Side nonprofit are asking for these items as part of its "Socktober" event.
Donations will be distributed through the group's emergency clothing service.
Socks and underwear will also be shared with local schools for nurses to distribute to students as they see necessary.
Those interested in donating can drop off items at Inner City at 1300 Chihuahua Street. Donors are asked to make their drop-offs in the mornings, Monday through Friday.
People unable to make those times should call 210-385-4225 to arrange a delivery time.
Donations will be accepted through the end of the month.
