SAN ANTONIO – Lasik eye surgery is growing in popularity, but some people still wonder if the procedure is right for them.
“It’s understandable (that) people are nervous,” Dr. Vasudha Panday, with the San Antonio Eye Center, said. “But we can get patients through this procedure and they’re very happy that they’ve had this done.”
Panday said the procedure takes only a few minutes, start to finish.
She also said that not everyone is a candidate for Lasik. For example, a patient cannot have any pre-existing conditions such as glaucoma or cataracts.
Panday said the best way to tell if you’re a candidate is to visit your ophthalmologist and have a complete evaluation.
“Imagine being able to wake up and not worry about glasses, putting in contact lenses and just seeing the world around you,” Panday said.
