SAN ANTONIO – Did you know that Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease is the number one liver disease in the nation, and in San Antonio?

At an alarming rate, Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease affects 40% of San Antonio residents.

That's approximately 556,000 people in San Antonio, and yet so many people may not know they suffer from the disease. 

"It's a huge epidemic that's sweeping our country," said Stephen Harrison, MD, Medical Director at Pinnacle Clinical Research

Harrison said NAFLD encompasses fat in the liver, fatty liver with inflammation, fatty liver with scarring, sorosis and liver cancer.
