SAN ANTONIO – UTSA is expected to hire University of Oklahoma assistant basketball coach Steve Henson as the new head coach of the Roadrunners, according to multiple reports.

The move, which has been reported by ESPN Basketball Insider Jeff Goodman and "Oklahoman" reporter Ryan Aber, comes after the firing of previous head coach Brooks Thompson earlier this month.

Thompson spent 10 seasons at UTSA and compiled an overall record of 133-178. His firing comes on the heels of a 5-27 season.

Henson has been an assistant at OU since 2011. Before that he spent time at UNLV, South Florida and the NBA's Atlanta Hawks.

His current team, the Sooners, are headed to the Final Four this weekend in Houston, where they will take on Villanova. The winner of that game will play the winner of North Carolina and Syracuse for the national championship.

UTSA is expected to announce Henson's hiring on Friday, according to reports.
