Poth Pirates embrace rebuild after losing 13 seniors, eye district title

POTH, Texas – The Pirates are one week away from kicking off their new season, and they can’t wait.

Poth football is always one of the better Class 3A teams in the area, but this season they are looking at their first major rebuild in quite a while.

Coach Jeff Luna said they lost 13 seniors from last season, but they have a good core coming back.

Poth has five offensive starters and three defensive starters returning, per Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

Nevertheless, the Pirates are expected to battle for the District 15-3A-DII title.

Poth will open the season at home next Friday, Aug. 28, against Aransas Pass.
