Spurs' Manu Ginobili shares sweet story about sons playing in rare South Texas snow

Ginobili said he and his family enjoyed the snowfall

SAN ANTONIO – Manu Ginobili shared a story at Spurs practice Friday about his kids experiencing the rare snow that fell in the South Texas and San Antonio area on Thursday night.

The Spurs play the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics at home Friday, but that did not stop Ginobili and his family from spending time outside.

Ginobili said it was the first time his sons had ever seen snow, and one of his boys apparently did not want the winter wonderland to go away anytime soon.

“We went for a walk early in the morning because they wanted to see it. We had one crying that he didn’t want the snow to melt,” Ginobili said. “I didn’t know how to convince him that it wasn’t going to happen so I said ‘OK, it’s not going to happen.’”

Ginobili jokingly added that he will have to see what happens when he returns home to his son and the snow has melted.

Ginobili has three sons: twin boys who were born in 2010 and a third boy who was born in 2014. Ginobili is now in his 16th season with the Spurs.
