Kane Brown is the leading nominee for the 2022 CMT Music Awards, which celebrates the best in country music videos. Brown's four nominations for the fan-voted awards show, airing live from Nashville on CBS April 11, include the top honor of video of the year along with male video of the year, both for his hit “One Mississippi,” CMT announced Wednesday. Kelsea Ballerini, who co-hosted the show with Brown last year and will do the same this year with actor Anthony Mackie, is nominated for three awards including video of the year.

Country star Morgan Wallen has apologized after a video surfaced showed him shouting a racial slur. The video, which was first published by TMZ on Tuesday night, showed him outside a home in Nashville, Tennessee yelling profanities. "I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. A spokesperson for radio giant iHeartMedia told The Tennessean they had removed Wallen's music from rotation. CMT said it was removing Wallen's performances on all its platforms in light of the racial slur.

The Highwomen, a group made up of Maren Morris, Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby and Amanda Shires, also got their first nomination for group video. Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and country music's biggest names teamed up for a good cause. The singers participated in CMT's Feed The Front Line LIVE, a virtual, star-studded benefit livestream featuring more than 40 artists to raise funds for frontline workers and others in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Before McGraw and Hill performed, Scott McCreery kicked off the "Breakfast" portion with the first performance of the day, singing "This Is It." To conclude the event, McGraw and Hill serenaded fans with an intimate duet. The organization has raised over $750,000 and delivered close to 50,000 meals to frontline workers to date.
Kane Brown pays tribute to late drummer Kenny Dixon

"I want to dedicate this to my drummer Kenny," Brown. Country singer Chris Young had presented Brown with the award and also had mentioned Dixon's tragic death. Brown also paid tribute to Dixon with an Instagram message on Sunday.
