Authorities are searching for a man accused of stabbing another man outside a YMCA on the East Side, the San Antonio Police Department said Thursday.

Weeks after KSAT’s Know My Neighborhood series highlighted safety concerns on a street in Denver Heights, the City of San Antonio made improvements to slow traffic down.

Neighbors in Denver Heights said concerns about speeding on a busy road have gone unheard.

A man was shot Sunday night while sitting on the front porch of his East Side home, according to San Antonio police.

San Antonio firefighters put out a fire at an unoccupied home on the city’s East Side early Thursday morning.

SAN ANTONIO – A house on the East Side will likely will be deemed a total loss following a fire early Thursday morning, the San Antonio Fire Department said. The fire was called in around 1:15 a.m. at an abandoned home in the 600 block of Iowa Street, not far from South Hackberry Street and Interstate 37. Firefighters said when they arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames. Fire officials said they were able to put out the fire quickly and without incident. There was no one inside the house and no utilities were being used by the home, firefighters said.
