The U.S. Army is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those involved with the New Year's Day shooting death of a local soldier. Staff Sergeant Jessica Mitchell was found lifeless in her stalled-out 2019 White Dodge Charger on Interstate 10, near Vance Jackson Road, around 2:15 a.m. on New Year's Day. She was last seen 15 minutes earlier at 4th Quarter Sports Bar, located at 8779 Wurzbach Road. Mitchelle was later pronounced dead at University Hospital.

SAN ANTONIO – The U.S. Army is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person, or persons, responsible for killing Sergeant Jessica Mitchell, who was fatally shot on New Year’s Day in San Antonio. The Army’s Criminal Investigation Command announced the $25,000 reward on Thursday, asking anyone with information in the “senseless murder” to come forward. San Antonio police said the car she was driving, a white 2019 Dodge Charger, was shot at by a person in a red vehicle. Since the shooting, San Antonio police have also been asking for the public’s help in finding the suspect. Mitchell, 30, was assigned to the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston.

SAN ANTONIO – A drill sergeant assigned to the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston has died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the JBSA. Sergeant Jessica Mitchell, a 68E Dental Specialist, was pronounced dead at University Hospital San Antonio at around 3 a.m. on Friday, according to the JBSA. San Antonio Police Department and the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division are still investigating the situation. “We are devastated by the tragic loss of Drill Sergeant Jessica Mitchell. We are focused on supporting Drill Sergeant Mitchell’s family as well as her soldiers during this extremely difficult time,” said Maj. Gen. Dennis LeMaster, the MEDCoE Commanding General.
