Southerleigh head brewer Les Locke relocating to upstate New York

Facebook / San Antonio Beer WeekSoutherleigh head brewer Les Locke enjoys a malt beverage. Les Locke, head brewer for the Southerleigh dining and brewing chain, is leaving San Antonio for upstate New York, MySA reports The relocation comes after Locke's girlfriend, Briana Hinojosa, landed a job with SingleCut Beersmith near Cooperstown, New York, according to the site. "I'm looking into breweries in the area, which will help round out my experience in brewing," he said. "It'd be really cool being able to get into a large brewery, producing a lot of beer with different equipment. "JC Norris will take over Southerleigh's brewing operations after Locke leaves in the coming weeks, MySA reports.

After exciting new openings, San Antonio is now awash in oyster bars

click to enlarge Ron BechtolSoutherleigh at the Pearl offers outdoor seating and a chance to pair oysters with beer. The dish is still on the menu there and at Bliss, the restaurant he later founded in Southtown. To boot, one of the city’s best raw sources is at now at the offshoot Silo Terrace Oyster Bar on Interstate 10. However, upon returning home — and a subsequent oyster bar road trip that included Sydney, Australia among other ports of call — they turned that love into more than a memory. On December 4, their “mom-and-pop” ode to the oyster, Little Em’s Oyster Bar, officially opened in King William. Unlike oysters, which can be a little less meaty, though still safe, in summer due to their reproductive cycle, caviar is always in season.

SAN ANTONIO A new restaurant concept is coming to San Antonio next month. Southerleigh Hospitality Group will be opening up Southerleigh Haute South at The RIM. The new place is described as being a fine, casual concept with southern-style food like fried chicken, seafood, sandwiches, salads and a full oyster bar. We love connecting people to outstanding food experiences and The RIM seemed like a home run location. The new restaurant will be located at 5822 Worth Parkway in a space that is about 4,1000 square feet with indoor and patio seating.
