The growing number of schooling options for local students can be overwhelming for parents, especially after private school vouchers became law in Texas in May. A local organization is expanding its services for families trying to figure it out.

One year after a devastating drought, Texas agriculture watchers are wary that the positive effects of a wet spring could be zapped up with extreme heat.

Texas has had public school choice for decades, and the number of options is exploding. But some lawmakers are still trying to create private school choice options, while others are pushing against it.

“A year like this, where everything is disaster, is just, I’d say, devastating,” cotton farmer Steven Walker said.
