Black members of the KSAT family reflect on recent protests against racism
SAN ANTONIO As protests against police brutality and racism have played out across the country and here in San Antonio, it has become clear how crucial it is to have a diverse newsroom. Sometimes you need people who understand, said Alexsis Page, a KSAT producer. Having a diverse newsroom forms a conversation inside the newsroom, more education inside the newsroom, Gray said. Its the goal of a new digital KSAT show were launching this week. KSAT Explains will debut with an episode focused on the unrest weve seen across the country, a look at how protests have played out in our city and an examination of what it means to be Black in San Antonio.

Christmas Day is a day to be spent with the ones you love most โ but just like every other day, news does not take a day off. KSAT will air the Nightbeat at 10 p.m. on Christmas Day, and anchors Japhanie Gray and Deven Clarke will be there with you to celebrate the end of the night. Constableโs sheriff campaign talk equals automatic resignation, state law says
KSAT 12 News reporter Deven Clarke, who interviewed Barrientes Vela, then asked her, "I guess the cat's out of the bag. You are officially going to run for the office of Bexar County sheriff in the next election? Garza said by law, Barrientes Vela can hold her position until another constable is appointed. On Tuesday, members of the Bexar County Commissioner's Court said they plan on ensuring the automatic resignation. The commissioners are consulting with the Bexar County District Attorney's Office about the law and said they should know more by tomorrow.
