NTSB: Preliminary investigation will take 2 weeks, up to 14 months for final report

Wecc Co. medical examiner: "Worst accident I've seen in 10 years."

LAREDO, Texas – The National Transportation Safety Board said Sunday the investigation into the fatal bus crash in rural Webb County will take up to 14 months.

The NTSB said a preliminary investigation will be complete in two weeks.

Investigators arrived in the border town 24 hours after the bus accident.

Sunday afternoon investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board walked the crash site, and took some pictures and measurements.

The NTSB and Texas Department of Public Safety investigators are trying to determine what caused the bus headed from the Rio Grande Valley to the Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass to lose control and flip.

The Webb County medical examiner called the accident the worst she had seen in 10 years.

Seven people died on scene, and another died at a Laredo hospital. Forty-four more passengers were injured and taken to hospitals in Laredo and Carrizo Springs.
