Evacuations underway for Port A, Rockport, Aransas Pass as Hurricane Harvey intensifies
Officials tweet mandatory evacuations are underway
SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE at 3:15 p.m.: Judge Simons has issued a mandatory evacuation for Jackson County near Victoria, Texas, according to an emergency alert in the area.
UPDATE at 12:40 p.m.: Mandatory evacuations for Mathis, Port Lavaca, San Patricio County, Calhoun County, Ingleside, and Portland are underway as Hurricane Harvey approaches land along the Texas Gulf Coast, according to a tweet sent out by H-E-B Emergency Preparedness Team.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Aransas Pass Police has ordered mandatory evacuations for the city of Aransas Pass as Hurricane Harvey intensifies in the Gulf of Mexico.

Mandatory evacuations have also been ordered for Rockport and Port Aransas, according to officials.
Just before noon Thursday, the National Weather Service upgraded Harvey from a Tropical Storm to a Hurricane with 80-mph winds.

Hurricane Harvey is located less than 400 miles southeast of Corpus Christi, travelling northwest at 10 mph.
On the forecast track, Hurricane Harvey will approach the middle Texas coast on Friday and make landfall Friday night or early Saturday, and then stall near the middle Texas coast through the weekend.
Many counties in South Texas - including Bexar County - are under a Hurricane or Tropical Storm Warning and the warnings will be in effect from Friday night through Monday morning, KSAT Meteorologist Kaiti Blake said Thursday on KSAT.com.
