Microsoft recalls 2.2 million Surface Pro power cords

Reports of flames, electrical shock prompt recall

SAN ANTONIO – Microsoft has recalled 2.25 million AC power cords for Surface Pro, Pro 2 and Pro 3 computers after 56 reports of the cords overheating and emitting flames and five reports of people suffering from an electrical shock.

The cords were sold with the computers as well as separately. Retailers, including Microsoft, Best Buy and Costco, sold them  from February 2013 through March 15, 2015.

Consumers can contact Microsoft at 855-327-7780  or online at Microsoft.com. The company is giving free replacements.

Dirt Devil recall

Nearly 150,000 Dirt Devil pet vacuums are recalled.

When consumers unplug the vacuum, the plug's prong can detach and remain in the outlet.

Three models of the Dirt Devil Total Pet Cyclonic Upright vacuum are involved. They are UD70210, UD70210CA and UD70210RM. All recalled vacuums were made between February 2014 and September 2015.

Owners can contact Dirt Devil at 1-800-373-6290 for a replacement vacuum. More information is on the company's website at DirtDevil.com.

Roller shades recalled

Thirty-thousand custom roller shades sold at Home Depot, Lowes and specialty shops are also recalled.

The recall involves certain Lutron Electronics Serena and SIVOIA QS TRIATHLON roller shades.

The problem is the window shades can come out their brackets and fall.

Many of the shades are battery-operated by remote control.

Baby product recall

And, before you store your baby's food,  avoid using iplay green sprouts glass food cubes. The company is recalling 68,000 of them because the glass can unexpectedly break.

Whole Foods,  Amazon.com and Target.com are among the stores that sold them last year. Consumer should contact iplay at 800-876-1574 or through their website at iplaybaby.
