Big events, fun things like camel, ostrich racing to do this weekend across SA

SAN ANTONIO – Monsters, camels and margaritas are all a part of events going on this weekend across the San Antonio area.

The San Antonio Zoo is hosting Croctoberfest this weekend. There will be food and a wide selections of beers at the German themed celebration. The cost to attend is regular zoo admission.

Food and beverage coupons can be purchased during the festival. Croctoberfest will be held Friday and Saturday from 6:30 to 10 p.m. 

Monster-Con is being held on Saturday and Sunday at Wonderland of the Americas. This event is billed as the only free horror-con in Texas. Vendors and celebrity guests will be in attendance for both days. 

The 35th annual Margarita Pour Off will be held Saturday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Nelson Wolff Stadium. Guests must be 21 years or older to attend. Music, food and a variety of margaritas are all a part of the event. Tickets are $15.

Saturday is Museum Day Live, and admission to the San Antonio Museum of Art and The Institute of Texan Cultures will be free for the day. Visitors must get a free voucher at smithsonianmag.com. The voucher admits two people for free. 

A pair of fun, family races are being held this weekend. Live camel and ostrich racing will be held at Retama Park and the Dachshund races take place at Krause’s Cafe in New Braunfels. Both races are scheduled for Saturday.
