Food truck featured on ABC shows rolls into SA

Cousins Maine Lobster's opening weekend this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – Lobster lovers in and around San Antonio are rejoicing tonight as a popular food truck is preparing to open this weekend.

You may have seen Cousins Maine Lobster on ABC shows Shark Tank, Beyond the Tank, Good Morning America or The Chew. Well now, San Antonio has its very own franchise owned by Neil Werner and Todd Knief.

"We want to spread the lobster love to everyone who's given it to us," the owners said at their soft opening Friday.

Werner started the CML family in Houston as a franchisee. Knief traded in his professional career for the food truck after watching cousins Jimmy Tselikis and Sabin Lomac’s success on Beyond the Tank.

During the cousins original pitch on Shark Tank's season 4, episode 6, shark Barbara Corcoran took the bait and led the cousins on a national media tour. From there, franchises have exploded across the country.

"It's the lobster," Werner said. "It's quality of product. You can't get it anywhere else, especially here in Texas."

Most of the truck's products come directly from Maine. It's a tastey treat people on the East Coast have been enjoying for years.

"Wow. That's amazing," customer Eric Cracraft said as he took a bite of a Connecticut lobster roll. "It was hot. It was fresh. It was tender and it was made with love."

For those not into cold or hot lobster rolls, there's plenty of variety on the menu. Quesadillas, tacos and tater tots are also served.

Although Cousins Maine Lobster is new to the Alamo City, it's continuing to grow. The owners expect a second truck to be up and running this fall.

The opening weekend schedule is as follows:

Saturday, June 4 - Noon to 9 p.m. at Random Beer Garden, 11 Upper Cibolo Creek Road in Boerne.

Sunday, June 5 - Noon to 9 p.m. at Alamo Beer Company, 415 Burnet Street in San Antonio.
