Haven for Hope gives gifts to children of parents in recovery programs

Participants away from family members, friends for months

SAN ANTONIO – Haven for Hope is hoping to make the holiday brighter for children who may not see their parents on Christmas this year.

The organization has recovery or wellness programs for people who were once homeless and are struggling with addiction or mental illness.

During the intensive three- to four-month programs, participants are in the early stages of recovery and are separated from their families and friends.

Haven for Hope delivered toys to children of the participants to let them know their parents are still thinking of them.

Nicole Roland, a participant, said she’s working to better herself and thankful her children will have a happier holiday.

“I just want to wish my family a very merry Christmas. Dominique, Ashley, Lenel and Jeeter, have a happy, merry Christmas. I love you from the bottom of my heart,” Roland said.

Roland’s family was one of about 20 families that were helped by the program.
