2 killed in violent far North Side crash identified

Victims ID'd as 17-year-old Geovanni Marchini, 20-year-old Xavier Coombs

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has released the identities of the two people who died in a violent crash on the far North Side late Monday night.   

17-year-old Geovanni Marchini and 20-year-old Xavier Coombs died in the crash on the northbound lanes of Highway 281 near East Sonterra Boulevard.

They were riding in a car driven by 19-year-old Christopher Marchini.  

SAPD officials said Marchini was headed southbound on Highway 281 when he lost control of his car, went across the median into the northbound lanes and crashed into a silver Toyota head-on.

A police report stated Marchini's car split open between the front and rear seats.

A driver and passenger inside the Toyota were transported to University Hospital for broken bones and internal injuries.

SAPD officials said Christopher Marchini admitted to officers that he had smoked marijuana. Police also believe Marchini was speeding.

He faces two counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
