1 arrested, 1 sought in Southeast Side shooting

Randy Gutierrez arrested in Gabriel Navarro's slaying

San Antonio police arrested a suspect in an especially violent murder on the Southeast side, one in which the victim was shot ten times.

However, it appears police are still searching for a second suspect.

An arrest affidavit names Randy Gutierrez, 34, and Gilbert Molina, 31, as suspects in the April 3 shooting.

The affidavit stated that Gabriel Navarro, 30, was standing outside a home in the 3200 block of E. Southcross Boulevard with his brother last Tuesday night when two people in a car drove up and sprayed him with bullets.

Navarro was hit ten times, according to officers at the scene. His brother was not hit by any of the gunfire.

The affidavit stated a relative of the victim told police Navarro had received a call earlier that evening from an old friend, asking where he was.

The relative was able to provide detectives with a nickname for that friend who called and one other man who was at the scene of the shooting.

Police then used those nicknames to identify the suspects, the affidavit stated.

Jail records Wednesday morning showed Gutierrez had been arrested, but there was no record of Molina being taken into custody. Both suspects face murder charges.
