Leon Valley closer to approving DPS Mega-center

Council votes 3-1 to enter into development agreement

LEON VALLEY, Texas – The Leon Valley City Council voted 3-1 Tuesday night to enter into an agreement with a developer trying to bring a Department of Public Safety drivers license mega-center to the city.

The vote came after more than an hour of public comments against the idea, with only one person, the man selling the property where the center would be built, speaking in favor.

"There was not one resident of Leon Valley that wanted the development and I was very disappointed the vote was 3-1," said Walter Garrity, a former city councilman who spoke against the plan.

Council members, citing legal issues involving the development plan, insisted voting for the agreement was the best way to protect the city.
