SAN ANTONIO ā Jeremy Thomas woke up Tuesday morning and got ready to leave for work, but when he went outside, he noticed something was out of place.
"I turn around and I'm like, 'Something is wrong here.' We realized her car had been stolen," Thomas said.
Someone had stolen his wife's car. Assuming he wouldn't get it back, Thomas was equally surprised Sunday when he received a knock at his door.
"I was sitting at the house with my wife. We got a knock on the door and it was the cops," Thomas said.
Officers asked him to come with them to a home in the 4700 block of Casa Espana, where he found several detectives and piles of stolen belongings.
"Found the checkbook, really didn't find anything else," Thomas said.Ā
It turned out Thomas was one of at least two people who had their vehicles stolen by two men.
But it was what they stole from inside the vehicles that ended up getting them caught.
Officers tracked the two burglars down by the locator on a stolen iPad.
Police then called the number of one of the phones that had been stolen and it started ringing in the suspect's pocket.
Both suspects were arrested and police are working to locate all of the stolen vehicles. The names of the suspects have not been released.
