Cody Lorenz awaiting trial for DWI death of Amber Robbins near Seguin

Lorenz injured in crash on Schuenemann Road, placed in intensive care at SAMMC

SEGUIN, Texas – Cody Lorenz, the man suspected of driving drunk and killing 19-year-old Amber Robbins near Seguin last year, was hospitalized after being involved in another crash over the weekend.

Lorenz, 21, was a passenger in a car that went out of control on Schuenemann Road and hit a tree Saturday evening, according to the Seguin Gazette.

The report said investigators with the Department of Public Safety suspect the driver of the car was drunk. Lorenz reportedly was flown to San Antonio Military Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

Lorenz is set to go to trial in another case involving allegations of drunken driving. He's charged with murder in the death of Robbins of Gonzales last December.

Investigators said that was Lorenz's third DWI arrest and that he was driving on a suspended license at the time.

Robbins' SUV was T-boned by Lorenz's pickup on Highway 46 near Kingsbury Road. Lorenz is set to go to trial in that case in October.

Investigators said the driver involved in the latest crash also will likely face charges related to driving drunk, the Gazzette reported.
