Grammy-winning Tejano singer attacked outside Houston bar

Oscar De La Rosa of La Mafia assaulted at Houston bar

HOUSTON – The lead singer of Grammy-award winning Tejano group La Mafia was beaten outside a Houston bar early Monday morning.

According to investigators, Oscar De La Rosa and a friend were leaving Blur Bar when a man who was kicked out of the bar earlier attacked them.

The man struck De La Rosa in the head several times before fleeing the scene, Houston Police said.

Investigators said the man was upset because De La Rosa did not want to take a picture with him or sign an autograph.

According to La Mafia's Facebook page, De La Rosa was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital and "suffered severe face lacerations and possible damage to his right eye."

Houston police have not announced an arrest in the case, but have a suspect.
