Robbery-murder, cold case suspects arrested

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio police homicide unit arrested two suspects Wednesday in connection with separate slayings. 

Antonio Jimenez III, 18, was arrested for last week's murder of a convenience store clerk on Roosevelt Avenue.

Police said Jimenez shot and killed Khalid Muhammad during a robbery. A customer found Muhammad behind the register with multiple gunshot wounds.

Martin Ortiz, 32, was arrested in connection with the 2005 murder of Johnathan Bowe.

Police said Ortiz shot and killed Bowe during a road rage incident. Ortiz allegedly became upset after Bowe cut him off on the road.

Ortiz claimed his innocence as he was being escorted by SAPD officers.

"I'm innocent. What they did to me was wrong. Very wrong. They sabotaged me, they broke down my door, scared my kids," Ortiz said.

Police say Ortiz is charged with murder.
