Man chased, fatally shot inside southwest San Antonio home

Victim identified as 37-year-old Ernest Rodriguez; 3 suspects sought in shooting on Royal Valley

SAN ANTONIO – A man was chased by three suspects and then fatally shot inside his southwest San Antonio home late Monday night, police said.

Gunshots were reported around 10:20 p.m. at a home in the 6000 block of Royal Valley near Five Palms and Old Pearsall Road.

"According to witnesses, three suspects -- Hispanic males -- knocked on the door. When the victim answered the door, they proceeded to shoot him," said San Antonio police Officer Roger Zuniga.

The victim is identified as 37-year-old Ernest Rodriguez.

Rodriguez's body was found in the garage with gunshot wounds to the head and back.

Police have a description of the suspects and believe they fled in a silver car, possibly a Chevy Impala.

Officers questioned witnesses about the shooting, but have not announced a motive.
