The move comes despite resistance from hundreds of residents who live near the school and the surrounding area.

Over the past few weeks, many Cibolo residents have voiced their opposition to the location being bought by Walmart. They have said they fear the store will increase crime and traffic to the area.

Walmart officials have also confirmed they will host an open house about the proposed store Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30 at the Schertz Civic Center located at 1400 Schertz Parkway.

The retail chain said will continue to negotiate with the neighborhood and police to make sure all parties are satisfied.
