A 21-year-old woman is accused of stealing jewelry from a friend's home, then asking the unsuspecting woman to drive her to a pawn shop to sell it.
Erika Willis was arrested Monday on a charge of theft. An arrest affidavit stated that the alleged crime happened in November of last year, but San Antonio Police Department detectives obtained a warrant for her arrest Monday.
The affidavit stated that a woman told police Willis had spent several hours watching movies with her in her parents' home last Nov. 20.
She told police that at one point, Willis asked her for a ride to a pawn shop on Perrin Beitel Road, saying that she needed to pawn a watch for "quick cash," the affidavit stated.
A few days later, the woman's mother discovered her watch and ring, worth about $2,200, were missing, the affidavit stated. The mother then filed a report with police.
The affidavit stated that the woman told investigators that while Willis was visiting, she had made several trips into a room where the jewelry was kept.
The affidavit stated that both she and her mother identified Willis in a photo lineup.
