The father of slain University of the Incarnate Word student Cameron Redus said he is angry following administrators' remarks at a March 5 student forum.
He asked the administration to issue a public statement clarifying what was said at last week's gathering.
At the meeting, students were told the officer who fired five shots at Redus at an off-campus apartment complex may return to work in an administrative role if there is no criminal indictment against him.
"(The students') concern was for the possibility of Officer Carter coming back to work on the police force, before ... the facts are in," said family spokesman Mark Hall.
Hall said unanswered questions about the order of events on Dec. 6 -- the day Redus was shot and killed -- have family and friends questioning existing university campus police policies and feel the their use-of-force policy should be made public.
"Since those officers are out in the city of San Antonio and the city of Alamo Heights, I think the citizens of San Antonio and Alamo Heights have the right to know what the police force's use-of-force policy is," Hall said.
Students were told campus police policies would not be changed as a result of Redus' death.
In a public statement, Cameron Redus' father, Mickey Redus, said, "This is an affront to us as a grieving family and should be an outrage to all students."
On Wednesday, the university issued this response: "The review of policies is standard practice. We are of course, taking this into consideration as we work to ensure the policies are comprehensive and provide a safe learning and work environment for our community."
The case has been filed with the District Attorney's Office.
The university did not provide KSAT its use-of-force policy.
