A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with a fatal drive-by shooting on the city's North Side.
Michael Anthony Solano was charged with murder in the death of Mario Alberto Martinez, 55, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Martinez was shot on Jan. 3 in the 4600 block of Howard Street.
"The victim, Martinez, was sitting in his home watching television. There was a vehicle with the suspects in that vehicle, that drove by, shot at the home," said San Antonio Police spokesperson Sandy Gutierrez.
Martinez was shot once in the upper body. He was transported to University Hospital and underwent emergency surgery, but died a day later.
According to the affidavit, Martinez's daughter was Solano's ex-girlfriend and police believe trouble between the ex-couple led to the shooting.
The affidavit stated Solano was considered a person of interest and interviewed by investigators after the shooting. He was also given a polygraph test, which showed deception in relation to the murder, police said in the affidavit.
Solano was recently taken into custody on a unrelated warrant.
The affidavit stated Solano admitted during questioning to being at the scene of the slaying and said he saw his accomplice fire the shots.
Police have not released any details on the man who was with Solano at the time of the shooting.
