SAPD: Suspect fights officers, arrested in fatal shooting

Second suspect arrested in apartment slaying; ID'd as Antonio Miranda, 30

San Antonio police have arrested a second person in connection with a fatal shooting last month at a Northwest Side apartment complex.

Antonio Miranda, 30, is accused of killing 22-year-old Alex Navarro at the Cordoba Apartments in the 7800 block of Callaghan Road on March 20.

SAPD officials said they located Miranda after officers responded to a disturbance with a gun in the 1900 block of Nolan Thursday night.

Officers said Miranda was armed upon their arrival and fought officers.

"Three officers had to take this suspect to the ground and were still not able to get him into custody, because of his violent nature. They had to (use a stun gun on) him. They finally got him under control," said Sgt. Javier Salazar, with the San Antonio Police Department.

"This suspect and another suspect in this case, Sara Clements, had gone over to Navarro's house for a drug deal," Salazar said.

Miranda's girlfriend, Sara Clements, 24, had previously been arrested in connection to Navarro's slaying. Clements surrendered to police and was arrested the day after the shooting occurred.

"As a dying declaration at the time that Navarro was dying, he told a witness there that Sara's boyfriend had shot him," Salazar said.

According to an arrest affidavit, Clements told police Miranda was the one who killed Navarro. Police said Miranda would be charged with murder.
