Elizabeth Villasana, 38, died after an early-morning accident Saturday.
The crash occurred at around 3 a.m. in the 300 block of East Basse Road near Highway 281 and Jones Maltsberger Road.
"It's been total devastation. She (was) a single mother of three kids and now those kids have been left for the rest of the family to take care of," said Villasana's brother, Tony.
According to police, Villasana was the passenger in a pickup truck traveling east on Basse Road.
The driver of that vehicle was cut off, causing him to lose control and crash into a tree.
Villasana was trapped and had to be cut out of the vehicle.
She was taken by air-life to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition where she later died.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
"I want it to be known that if you drink and drive and you hurt somebody that's with you or in a another car, you need to be held at some accountability," said Tony.
Tony said the family members will lean on their faith for comfort and remember her for the person she was.
"The one thing about my sister Elizabeth was that she was probably the most loving and outgoing," Tony said.
