Party on: Spurs fans begin Finals festivities

Revenge, 5th title up for grabs

There's a good chance the Spurs did not spend too much time celebrating another trip to the NBA Finals, but their fans are not done.

More than 100 people clad in silver and black gathered at Milam Park Sunday for a victory rally to celebrate the team's thrilling Saturday night win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"We're just getting started," said Mario "Ol Skool Magee" Sosa, the rally's organizer. "It's only going to get bigger and badder for the Finals."

Sosa started holding the rallies last year, celebrating each time the Spurs advanced in the playoffs. He said through word of mouth, attendance has continued to grow.

The Spurs fanatic led a hoard of fans screaming "go Spurs go" on a march through downtown to the Alamo.

"We're just a big Spurs family," Sosa said. "We're not only out here to support our team, we're enjoying ourselves as a family and we're walking the streets of San Antonio and we're getting everybody fired up."

Fans said they were excited to be back in the Finals, but this year is even more important because it gives the team a chance to avenge last year's heartbreaking loss to the defending NBA champion Miami Heat.

"Everyone wanted this rematch. Ever since we got robbed everyone wanted this Finals to happen," said a fan who goes by the name of Spurs Luchadore.

"I'm glad we got a second chance," said Krystal Rosales. "Unfinished business, we're going to get it done this time."

Game 1 is Thursday night at the AT&T Center with tickets going on sale Monday at 10 a.m.

All games will be broadcast live on KSAT 12.
