Former UTSA women's basketball coach dies in accident Rae Rippetoe-Blair led the Roadrunners for 13 seasons No description found
SAN ANTONIO – Former University of Texas: San Antonio women's basketball coach Rae Rippetoe-Blair was killed Friday in an accident, according to a statement from UTSA Director of Athletics Lynn Hickey.
"We are deeply saddened to hear that our former women's basketball coach Rae Rippetoe-Blair passed away in an accident on Friday. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family in this very difficult time," said Hickey.
According a story from the San Antonio Express News , Rippetoe-Blair was killed in a motorcycle accident in Austin. She was 52.
Rippetoe-Blair was named head coach at UTSA in 2000.
Under her 13-season tenure, the Roadrunners boasted a record of 216-173.
She led the team to two NCAA Tournament appearances and back-to-back Southland Conference Tournament Championships in 2008 and 2009.
Rippetoe-Blair was also recognized in March as Coach of the Decade by the Southland Conference for her work in the 2000s.
