Metro Health changes mobile vending licensing procedures

Metro Health will now conduct inspections in field

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District will be conducting mobile vending licensing inspections in the field starting Aug. 5.

Metro Health is making the change to better accommodate customers, who will no longer need to drive their units to the Development Business Center on South Alamo to obtain a license.

"When Metro Health consolidated its Food and Environmental inspectors at the Claude Black Center, we also wanted to change our operations to better serve our customers. Meeting the stakeholders in their communities is one of these changes," said Dr. Vincent Nathan, Assistant Health Director.

Mobile units must be fully operable at the time of inspection.

Inspections will be conducted where the unit sets up to sell or another site chosen by the vendor inside city limits.  Inspections will not be conducted on residential property.

Mobile vendors may schedule an appointment for inspections by calling 210-207-0135.
