Man charged with exposing himself to cancer patient at Mission Trails Baptist Hospital

Ricardo Pacheco, 49, arrested on indecent exposure charge

SAN ANTONIO – A former health care worker at Mission Trails Baptist Hospital has been arrested.

Ricardo Pacheco, 49, is accused of exposing himself to an elderly cancer patient being treated there.

It happened Friday after a cancer patient checked into the hospital.

Police said Pacheco was doing a medical procedure on the patient when he exposed himself to her.

It wasn't until after the medical procedure was completed that the patient told others at the hospital what happened.

Detectives spoke at length with Pacheco Monday and arrested him on charges of indecent exposure.

Police said they are concerned there may be other victims.

"For whatever reason, maybe they don't recognize that something (unintelligible) occurred during their exams or for whatever reason maybe they are afraid to come forward," said Sgt. Javier Salazar with the San Antonio Police Department. "My understanding, that was a concern on this victim's part at some point."

Police said the suspect has worked in the health care field for more than 10 years.

A Baptist Health System spokeswoman released this statement:

"The Baptist Health System takes allegations such as these very seriously which is why we proactively and immediately reported the claim to the San Antonio Police Department. We are currently working in full cooperation with SAPD because the safety and well being of our patients is our top priority. The employee was immediately suspended and he has since been terminated."
