Medical examiner still seeking cause of woman's death

Bianca Jimenez disappeared July 18, found dead last week

SAN ANTONIO – The cause and manner of death for Bianca Jimenez, 28, who was found dead last week after disappearing in July, remains unknown, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.

Children playing along the San Antonio River near Southton and Espada roads on Aug. 12 discovered the badly decomposed body.

However, it took about a week for the medical examiner and the Bexar County Sheriff's Office to confirm that the dead woman was Jimenez.

The resident of the King William neighborhood had been reported missing by relatives on July 18, after her mother found blood inside her apartment in the 300 block of Adams Street.

According to reports at the time, Jimenez disappeared at some point after a disturbance at her apartment involving her ex-boyfriend and another man.

Her family later launched a series of searches for her throughout the neighborhood and across the city, as well as candlelight vigils.

Chris Price, who lives in the house next door to Jimenez's apartment building, took part in the first hunt after seeing a large crowd of family members and friends gathered in the neighborhood.

"Some friends of mine, we were going on a bike ride and actually went down to the Mission Reach to see if we saw anything," Price said.

He came up empty-handed, but his mind, like that of many neighbors, was filled with wonder and concern.

"It's a pretty close-knit neighborhood," Price said. "While we didn't know her, I think everybody was looking out for each other, concerned, hoping it would end on a positive note. We actually were on vacation all last week and so didn't realize they'd found her. A tragic ending."

Although the autopsy results are inconclusive, sheriff's investigators are handling the case as a homicide.

In a statement released Wednesday, spokeswoman Rosanne Hughes said there is an active investigation going on, and there will be no additional information released at this time.
