SAN ANTONIO – KSAT has released a new app called KSAT 12 StormPins, which gives users a great new way to share their weather experiences via social media.
StormPins is a map-based social network that knows where you are and allows you to see real-time pictures and video in your area.
StormPins is similar to Instagram, but you can plot your pictures on a map to show us where the action is happening across South Texas.
Once you download StormPins to your Apple or Android smartphone or tablet, you can take a picture or shoot video -- anything to share about the weather where you are.
When you include the photo or video in your pin on StormPins, you can tag your location.
StormPins is a simple way to share a picture of a family outing, sporting event or even a beautiful South Texas sunset, but it can also be a key resource during severe weather.
You can share pics of a storm moving through South Texas, flooded roads, downed power lines and trees by just dropping a pin. Whatever you see, you can share with StormPins.
The pins help alert others of storms or damage. Then check out what others pinned to see how the severe weather might impact you.
The KSAT Weather Authority team is a big part of StormPins as well. The team will be on the lookout for what you pin and they will share your photos on air and online.
Don't just pull out your phone or tablet for storm damage, we would love to see beautiful weather pictures as well.
StormPins is available for download for Android and iPhone users. Just search KSAT in the app store and download it now to join the weather conversation.
Apple users can click here to download the KSAT 12 StormPins app on iTunes.
