Runge woman dead after fall from moving vehicle

KARNES COUNTY, Texas – A woman in the small Karnes County town of Runge is dead after falling from the hood of a moving vehicle.

Karnes County Sheriff Dwayne Villanueva said the fatal incident happened around midnight Friday on FM 1020 just outside Runge.

He said a deputy on patrol drove up on the fatality just after it happened.

The sheriff said the woman was riding on the hood of a friend's vehicle and apparently fell.

Villanueva said 19-year-old Samantha Charles died at the scene.

He said deputies tested both the victim and the driver for alcohol.

The Sheriff's Department is now investigating the fatal incident.

Runge is about 65 miles southeast of San Antonio.
