TxDOT: Medical Center road project on schedule

SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Department of Transportation says that a major road project in the Medical Center that has been the cause of many traffic backups and closures is moving along on schedule.

The project on Fredericksburg Road at Medical Drive is expected to be completed within the first eight weeks of 2015. 

TxDOT said there may even be a possibility of the project wrapping up a few weeks early.

Crews still need to do more work on the lanes on Medical Drive under Fredericksburg Road.

Additionally, concrete work on curbs, sidewalks and barriers needs to be done and may require overnight closures. 

Last month, Texas Sterling Construction slid the Fredericksburg Road bridge into place over Medical Drive in record time.
