Man shot in head, stabbed several times on West Side

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department is investigating the death of a man found shot in the head and stabbed several times on the city's West Side. 

Officers responded to a down-and-out call around 11 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of Ceralvo Street near Southwest 19th Street.

Police said when they arrived, they found a man lying in the front yard of the home. He had been shot in the head and stabbed several times in the back.

Investigators said a gas can was found near the body, leading them to believe someone may have tried to set the victim on fire.

The police department said it has very little information to go on in the search for the person or persons responsible for the crime.

The victim has not been identified.
