6 students arrested in fight at Roosevelt High

4 male students charged as adults

SAN ANTONIO – A group of Roosevelt High School students are now facing charges after a fight broke out in the school courtyard Thursday afternoon.

The fight reportedly started as a verbal altercation between two of the students. The altercation escalated as more students got involved.

Campus police broke up the fight and six students were arrested. Four of them will be charged as adults.

Arnold Ruiz, 17; Marc Segovia, 17; Isaac Luna, 17; and Jesus Santillan, 18, have been charged with engaging in a riot.

Northeast Independent School District spokesperson Aubrey Chancellor said a fight on campus that escalates to such a magnitude warrants strong discipline.

"In this case it wasn't just two people having an altercation, it was a number of people that got involved. It was something that we just aren't going to tolerate happening on our campuses. So yes, they were arrested and charges were filed," Chancellor said.

Several videos were taken of the fight and the resulting arrests.

The district will review the videos, and more arrests and charges could be coming.
