Suspect, victim identified in apparent murder-suicide in NE Bexar County

BCSO: Teen stabbed while attempting to break up fight between husband, wife

SAN ANTONIO – Two people were killed and a teenager was stabbed late Wednesday night in an apparent murder-suicide in northeast Bexar County.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office identified the alleged suspect and victim early Thursday morning as Filiberto Lopez Mendoza, 54 and Magdalena Aguayo de Mendoza, 49.

BCSO spokesman James Keith said deputies responded to a family disturbance just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 8200 block of Montgomery Oak.

Investigators said a husband and wife got into an argument and Filiberto Mendoza stabbed Magdalena Mendoza before fatally shooting her.

BCSO officials said the teenage child tried to break up the fight and was stabbed by Filiberto Mendoza.

The teen managed to run away and get help. He was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition, Keith said.

It was unclear how the teen was related to the victim or suspect.

Deputies arrived at the home and found two people dead with gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe Filiberto Mendoza turned the gun on himself shortly after the initial shooting and stabbings.

BCSO officials said the investigation is ongoing.
