Officer recognizes burglary suspect from surveillance video

Timothy Cooper, 32, arrested soon after crime

SAN ANTONIO – A burglary charge has been filed against Timothy Cooper, 32, who was taken into custody soon after a home break-in last month that was caught on surveillance cameras.

A San Antonio police officer recognized the suspect from the video when he saw him walking into a store a short time later, according to an arrest affidavit.

The officer had responded to the homeowner's call about the break-in at her North Side home on April 10.

The affidavit stated that she also showed him video from her surveillance cameras which captured a man walking toward her home, then walking away with a bag full of her property.

The officer left the home and went to the 5100 block of Blanco Road where he began completing his paperwork, the affidavit stated.

It stated the officer noticed a man walking into a store who matched the description and was wearing the same clothes as the man in the video.

Cooper was taken into custody at that time due to outstanding warrants. The burglary charge was added on Thursday.
