Man killed in drive-by shooting

Eliud Lopez, 21, shot to death outside South Side home

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating a deadly drive-by shooting Tuesday night in the 200 block of Dullnig Court.

The Bexar County medical examiner has identified the victim as 21-year-old Eliud Lopez.

Police said they're still trying to determine whether the shooting was a random incident or if Lopez was targeted.

"(We're) still trying to find out what the relation may be between the suspects and the victim, if any," said San Antonio Police spokesman Officer Douglas Greene.

According to police, Lopez was eating dinner at home at around 10:30 p.m. when he noticed a suspicious vehicle repeatedly driving by.

When he went outside to check out the vehicle, he was reportedly shot at multiple times.

Lopez was struck at least once in the head and died at the scene.

Police were told that the gunman was driving a red Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Around midnight, a truck matching the description was found burned in the 1300 block of Chavaneux.

"We currently have arson investigators, along with homicide (detectives), to find the connection with the vehicle and the shooting," Greene said.

Greene said the truck had been stolen from a business earlier in the day.

Investigators were looking into whether the incident might be linked to another deadly shooting earlier this year.

Two men were shot dead Jan. 17 outside of the Flying Tiger sports bar. One of the shooting suspects, a man in his 40s, was arrested at the same home where Tuesday night's shooting took place.

Greene said it's too early in the investigation to tell if there's a connection between the two incidents.
