2 shot after argument outside near North Side bar

SAN ANTONIO – A man opened fire outside a near North Side bar, hitting two people and leaving one in critical condition early Monday morning, San Antonio Police said.

The shooting was reported around 2:45 a.m. at the El Fuerte bar in the 7000 block of San Pedro Avenue.

Police said two men were at the club dancing with two sisters, but left.

The sisters then began to talk with another man at the club.

The sisters left and the man walked them out to their car.

Police said the sisters and the man were then confronted by the first two men at the bar who were in a vehicle described as a Mitsubishi Galant.

They exchanged words and the driver pulled out a gun and reached across the passenger to fire several shots, hitting the third man multiple times in the stomach and arm, police said.

A bullet also hit one of the women in the arm. Both victims were taken to University Hospital for treatment.

The shooter fled south on San Pedro, police said.

Just before the shooting, the gunman reportedly assaulted another person in the parking lot, police said.

Investigators interviewed that man and several other witnesses. Police have not announced any arrests.
