Garbage collector killed in trash compactor

SAN ANTONIO – A garbage collector was killed Tuesday morning in a trash compactor in Northwest Bexar County.

Bexar County Sheriff's Office officials said a Metro Waste Systems employee was found around 10:15 a.m. in the solid waste truck around in the 1300 block of Dezarae.

It's not known how the worker ended up in the truck.

A neighbor told KSAT 12 News that she saw the victim pick up a couple of trash bins, and the next thing she knew there was a huge commotion around the truck.

Deputies are in the process of notifying the victim's family. The Sheriff's Office said he was in his 20s.
