SAN ANTONIO – The Enterprise Rent-A-Car company is apologizing for not properly inspecting a rental vehicle after a gun was found inside Thursday.
A local man claims he rented the SUV and drove around for two days before discovering the .40-caliber Glock inside the center console.
"My immediate response was (to) call the authorities. My issue is that I've been driving around for two days with my children in the vehicle," said the Enterprise customer, who did not want to be identified.
SAPD confiscated the weapon and said it has not been involved in any crimes and is registered to a woman here in Texas.
"I feel that it’s very, very negligent of Enterprise as a company. It should be held to a higher standard of inspecting and detailing their vehicles," the customer said.
KSAT-12 also contacted Enterprise Rent-A-Car and obtained this statement from Lisa Martini.
We have a very formal training process, instructing all of our employees on the proper cleaning of a vehicle, including inspections for customer belongings. We are very sorry this happened and are working to make sure it doesn't happen again.
The rental company also provided the customer with a substitute SUV but he said he will never rent from them again.
